The Indie Band Survival Guide

So, you're in a band, right?  Are you ready to quit the night shift at TGI Fridays and take your band to the next level?  Then this book is for you.  The Indie Band Survival Guide:  The Complete Manual For The Do-It-Yourself Musician($10) is a step by step guide for budding artists looking to jump start their careers.  The book, written by Randy Chertkow and Jason Feehan, lead members of the Chicago band Beatnik Turtle, explain how they have managed to build their career and build a huge following(I've never heard of them either).    The book features topics such as building a brand, networking, creating a web site, getting booked, playing live and getting publicized.  The book is very web-centric and encourages band to become tech savvy and exploit the Internet to make a name for themselves.

Okay, I know this isn't a book blog, but since it is an indie music blog I figure this is acceptable subject matter for us to post about.  Also, we get money from Amazon.com whenever you buy something that you found on this site.  Hey, we gotta eat too.

Um...I fucking LOVE the Chicago band Beatnik Turtle. I have been following their brand since they starting branding, networking, created a website and getting booked...as soon as they started playing live and getting publicized I lost interest.
