Photos: Phoenix & Sea Wolf @ The Marquee Theater 2/1/2010

Well it's not very often that you get to see a Grammy Award winner the day after they win but that is exactly what happened last night when Phoenix played The Marquee Theater in Tempe. I have been to a lot of shows at The Marquee in my time but I have never seen it so ridiculously packed as I did last night. Every square inch of that place was taken up with people all the way out the back doors.

Supporting band Sea Wolf looked genuinely giddy as hell to be playing in front of a crowd that big, and they didn't disappoint. I am not saying they haven't played to that many people before but it was quit an increase from Modified Arts a few month ago. They played mostly new songs off their new album White Water, White Bloom as well as crowd favorite "The Violet Hour" from the New Moon Soundtrack.

Once Phoenix came on stage the place was the most frenzied I had seen since Rage Against the Machine in 1999. It was all pretty surreal since only a couple people I knew had ANY idea who these guys were six months ago. But they put on a great freaking show and if you missed it I feel pretty bad for you. Even though I don't think that many of you did... you know, since there were so many people... ughh leave me alone it's early.

I'm so surprised there are no photos of when they let fans get on stage! Thomas came and pulled me out of the crowd and I have no proof :(

Unfortunately at the Marquee we are only allowed to take pictures for the first 3 songs. I am working on getting a zoom lens but they are $2400... Anybody want to donate to the cause? ;-)
