Here Comes Crescent Ballroom!

It has been a long time coming and something that I have been dreaming and wishing for since we started this site in 2008.  A truly bad ass music venue downtown! Sure Modified had it charms, but good sound, not smelling like shit and AC were not those charms, and the Trunk Space... let's just not talk about the Trunk Space.

But news is hitting that the best and most wonderful Stateside Presents are finally fulfilling their destiny and opening up a venue of their very own. It's called Crescent Ballroom and even though we have seen the name pop up as the site for upcoming shows like St Vincent, tUne-YaRdS, M83 & We Were Promised Jetpacks we didn't really know any details. Now we know more details and those details are good. It's going to be size wise in between The Rhythm Room and Marquee Theatre, have food and drinks and be open everyday at 4pm to hang out, or something to that effect.

It looks like the first show is Unknown Mortal Orchestra with What Laura Says opening on Oct 4th. I am going to bet that it sells out, so I would get your tickets now, or whenever they become available because their site is not working yet I guess.

A few weeks back we posted the first mp3 from from tUnE-YarDs latest album w h o k i l l entitled "Bizness." Well, now we've got a pretty awesome video for the track. The song has quickly become one of my favorite songs of the year and the video is pretty awesome, also. But I would have preferred if the whole thing had just been that little girl lip syncing the whole song. But, hey, that's just me.

TGIF, everybody. This week has been a bit of drag. And by that I mean it has dragged on for what feels like forever. But, thankfully, it's almost over and I can look forward to a weekend trying to do as little as possible. But enough about me...

You guys wanna hear a cool new song? Yeah, I thought so. This new song "Bizness" from tUnE-yArDs' forthcoming second album w h o k i l l is pretty amazing and has been on repeat all week. You can download the mp3 for free from the widget below. You'll have to give them your e-mail address but the trade off is well worth it. I dare you not to like this song. I can say that because it will be impossible.

Video: Tune-Yards 4AD Sessions

So it looks like the labels are getting in on the whole "sessions" thing. 4AD just released a new feature on their website where they will have in studio performances from artists on their label. With the first episode featuring 5 tracks songs from Tune-Yards. In retrospect this seems like a total "no-brainer" for the labels to do this sort of thing. So it's kind of surprising that nobody else has done it before. Unless of course one of them has and I don't know it, if so, then I am......dumb.
