Dry River Yacht Club "The Rape of Persephone"
This is a seriously epic video, especially for a Monday morning. That was a pretty wet river though. I feel like they could have found a drier one than that somewhere around here.

Tonight In Tempe: Dry River Yacht Club Spring Festival

Starting in two hours is THE place to be today. FOURTEEN of the best bands in the Phoenix area in one place for only 10 American Dollars! And you even get Dry River Yacht Club's new album so really it's like they are paying you to have fun. Granted you will probably spend $600 on drinks if you stay for the whole 12 hours but it's not like you have anything better to spend that money on... well a new liver I guess but that is a whole "chicken and egg" thing that I just don't have the energy to get into.
There is going to be a raffle too I hear. Who doesn't love a raffle?* Check out links to the line up below.
Finding Grampa's Monsters
Los Guys
Mojo Farmers
Hot Birds
Strange Young Things
Sugar Thieves
Jake Payne
Yellow Minute
What Laura Says
Matthew Reveles
Sunorus
Fatigo
Black Carl
Dry River Yacht Club
*Communists HATE raffles.

Tonight In Scottsdale: Dear And The Headlights/Kinch/Black Carl/ The Love Me Nots/Gospel Claws
There is such a large/robust/intimidating amount of things going on tonight in The Valley it's really blowing my mind open like jar of Ragu on spaghetti night at the homeless shelter. So much do I might just have to stay at home and cry. We can go to the Flying Blanket Recording show at Martini Ranch featuring Kinch, Dear & the Headlights, The Love Me Nots, Black Carl, Gospel Claws and Sister Cities. Or we could go to the Compound Grill for some Dry River Yacht Club. ORRRR head downtown to Holgas to see Dearspeak with Fatigo and Thankful Birds for a free show that's part of First Friday. Oh shit it’s First Friday ANOTHER thing to add to the list that could take up your whole night all by itself!
What I am I going to do you ask, so you can avoid me probably. Well I am going to break my vow of never going to Marini Ranch ever again because it's going to be worth it. The last time I went there I saw a dude throw a bick through the back window of a Cadillac for taking up two spaces. Fingers crossed tonight it will be even MORE exciting!
As a side note we have a new commenting system that is pretty cool. You can reply to other peoples comments, up OR down vote, have avatars etc... We hope it will inspire some more "ElectricMustache Community Spirit" if you know what I mean. I am also going to mention it in every post till people start leaving comments telling me to stop mentioning that people should leave comments.

MODIFEST This Weekend!
Well as some or all or none of you may know Modifest is this weekend. What is Modifest you ask? It's three days of awesome local bands playing at the soon to be "different" Modified Arts all for charity.
This really is a "whos who" of the Phoenix scene. Every night is jam packed with tasty goodness and only costs $5 per night, even though they should have sold a 3 day pass for $12 or something to entice people to come all 3 nights, and if they don't....eff them, they already paid! But who the hell am I? (PS Kimber it's NOT to late!)
Here is a break down of all three night with fancy links to each bands Myspace page so you can hear more if you are unfamiliar:
Friday the Thirteenth
Black Carl
Treasure Mammal
Soft Drink
Liar's Handshake
Michelle Blades
Saturday the Fourteenth
What Laura Says

Farewell Review
Stellaluna
So and So (No link could be found, please send one over if you can)
Sunday the Fifteenth
Dry River Yacht Club

Tonight in Phoenix: Elliott Brood, Yo La Tengo, BLK JKS, Ghostface Killah and Dry River Yacht Club
Well tonight is another "Night of a Million Shows"! We are going to Elliott Brood at The Rhythm Room, but that is because we love Canada. You might want to go to Yo La Tengo at The Marquee, BLK JKS at Modified Arts, Ghostface Killah at The Clubhouse or even Dry River Yacht Club at Yucca Tap Room. The choice is yours but don't fuck up your life by sitting on your couch all night...nerd.

Tonight In Phoenix: Kinch, Dry River Yacht Club @ Modified Arts

It's a good night tonight for fans of local music. You can head over to The Rhythm Room to catch some of our local favorites. Kinch, Dry River Yacht Club, Austin Gibbs, and Michelle Blades all perform tonight at 8 pm. It costs $8 to get in and some proceeds of the show will go to benefit Local First Arizona. So go out, listen to some excellent local music and help support a good cause while you're at it.

Tonight In Phoenix: Ida Maria, Dry River Yacht Club, Snow Songs

Ida Maria, is playing tonight at Martini Ranch in support of Fortress Round My Heart one of my favorite albums of the year. Tix were $10 but looks like they are $12 day of the show (that's today dum dum) Should still be able to pick them up at the Marquee box office or Bookmans.
If old town Scottsdale isn't your cup of tea then there are some other great options tonight. Dry River Yacht Club is playing a free show at the Yucca Tap Room OR you can head on over to the Lost Leaf Gallery and check out Snow Songs (also for free) OR you can check out Oakland's Cryptacize with local favs Andrew Jackson Jihad at Modified Arts ($8)
In conclusion there is tons of shit to do tonight so go out and see somebody, make a new friend, get in a fight with an old friend...SOMETHING! Check out silverplatter.info for even a few MORE shows, seriously.
