Spoooookie videos are the best, and also today's theme. Can someone please find another video with three girls in cloaks out in the Woods? Woods is also the name of this band. OH SHIT! That dudes face just started melting! I wish Woods would come back to town, I miss them so hard.

After a couple of not so good weeks we are getting a pretty solid one this time around. Top of my list if Broken Social Scene's Forgiveness Rock Record and Josh Ritter's So Runs the World Away, but one must not forget Fly Lo's Cosmogramma The Joy Formidable's Balloon Called Moaning or Woods At Echo Lake. You might WANT to forget about The Hold Steady and Minus The Bear though... um, pretty meh as far as I am concerned, and that is why I make the big bucks yall! Somehow this slipped through my email cracks which are only slightly larger than my other cracks so it's really no surprise that it slipped through because my other cracks are GAPING cracks.

This song “I Was Gone” is from Woods new album At Echo Lake that comes out on May 11th via Woodist. Check out the track listing after the mp3/break.
They are also going on a tour that doesn’t come to Phoenix but I will post the dates anyway because I am your pal.

I like Woods. After seeing them at The Rhythm Room earlier this year I REALLY liked them. So when I checked my feed reader today and saw that they did a Daytrotter session I was pretty excited. When I saw that they did three previously unreleased songs I got REALLY REALLY excited.

Daytrotter has consistently done the best job of getting excellent bands into their recording lair for sessions. Not to take anything away from the likes of Black Cab Sessions, La Blogotheque and LaundroMatinee or anything because they are also fucking great. But Daytrotter is ahead by a slight margin even without video.

Because half way through the show at The Rhythm Room I had tiny tiny chubs going on. It MIGHT have been from all the hot sweaty bodies smashing into me or the $1.50 Schlitz's I was drinking but I have a sneaking suspicion that it was Woods giving me wood.
