Even though that picture of Slash and his guitar I took a couple weeks ago has nothing to do with any of the new albums coming out this week I felt it appropriate as it conveys how awesome this weeks new releases are. Why so awesome? Glad you asked... two words, the Monkees! Just kidding, they were not that good. Just kidding they were pretty awesome. Especially for a sorta fake band that was cast, as actors... for a TV show, they were excellent. Daydream Believer, Last Train to Clarksville... so good.

Today's most excellent release is Toro Y Moi's Underneath The Pine. I have been hearing for a couple of weeks now and I love it. Also The Cave Singers No Witch should be on your must have list, if you have one of those. If not I suggest you make one. And stick to it.

Another great new song from Toro Y Moi's new album Underneath The Pine, Is it just me or are you also totally grossed out by that album cover? It looks like some weird coral is growing on Prince's face. It also reminds me of those pictures of female body parts infected with STD's that they showed us in school to frighten us into being chronic masturbators. Whatever it is I just don't like it. Thank our sweet blessings that we are able to just change that in iTunes whenever we see fit. And I WILL see fit.

So I bet you’ve been wondering why the blog has been a little slow on posts as of late.  Well, I’ll tell you.  Photographer and blogger extraordinaire Shawn is currently on vacation in an undisclosed location at the moment. As for me I've been neglecting my blogging duties as of late. But don't be too angry with me. I've only let a little thing called life and responsibilities get in the way of blogging. So excuse me for trying to support my family and make a decent living in this cruel, cruel world.

Anyways, I told Shawn I'd try and find some time to get back in the swing of things. So enough of my life story and on to something relevant.

Toro Y Moi, who played last night in Tempe at the Clubhouse, will be releasing a new 7" single on July 20th via Carpark. You can download the single's A side "Leave Everywhere" down below. The song is nice change of direction for Toro Y Mo as it goes from his traditional chill wave sound to more of a fuzzed out garage rock sound.

Tonight In Phoenix: The Ruby Suns | Toro Y Moi | Really Big Birds @ The Rhythm Room

The Ruby Suns are returning to the Valley after opening up for The Dodos last year at Modified, but this time they are headlining with famous blog buzzing Toro Y Moi and Tempe’s Really Big Birds supporting.

If this show is anywhere nearly as packed as Modified was their last time around... I am gonna be honest with you, it's going to be annoying. It was REALLY REALLY packed.

Tickets are still available online HERE and they are only $10. Pretty good for a Sunday night out.
