Grizzly Bear "Yet Again"

It feels like 2009 all over again with Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective both coming out with albums again. I only wish it really WAS 2009 again. Back before I decided to move into this tree house in the Bolivian jungle. Sure it's private but these snakes are literally killing me.

1500th Post Mixtapes!!! We Did It!!!

Oh guess what? This is Electric Mustache's 1500th Post! Who would have thought we would or could have made it that far? Not me, especially "cuz they're rapin errbody out here" and everything. But against all odds we have made it to 1500 posts (and counting).

As a gesture intended to say thank's, Mike and I made a couple "mix tapes" with some of our favorite songs going back to the start of the blog. Mike and I put together two pretty solid mixes if you ask me. And you should, because I need validation in my life.

Grizzly Bear's music videos are always a little unsettling. It's cool though; I'll take unsettling over boring any day of the week. Here is the video for "Ready, Able" off of Veckatimest. The video was directed by Allison Schulnik.

Ready, Able was my favorite track off Veckatimes I think...shit they are all awesome but yea, Ready, Able is my fav...I think ;-) But this video is rad as hell! with all the melting stuff and water and stuff melting into water. I wonder how many candles were harmed in the making of this film that Grizzly Bear provided the music for?

Video: Grizzly Bear "Two Weeks" on Conan

You have to get up pretty early in the morning to beat some other blogs to the punch on the previous nights Hulu videos dontcha? Ehhh...you might have already viewed this performance of "Two Weeks" by Grizzly Bear last night on the Tonight Show but it's really good so you might as well watch it again. Victoria Legrand really does take this song into the upper stratosphere of awesomeness right?

Here is the latest video from Grizzly Bear for their song "While You Wait For The Others." Recently, this song was covered by Michael McDonald, a version of the song that has caused quite a lot of debate around Mustache headquarters. I personally like the Michael McDonald version of the song, where as Shawn, being the jerk face that he is sometimes, does not. So, if you smart, good looking people would be so kind as to leave a comment telling him that he's wrong and I am right, that would be greatly appreciated.

Video: Grizzly Bear - "Ready, Able" (Live on David Letterman)

I was more than a little bummed that I had to miss Wilco and Grizzly Bear last month in Tucson. Sure, I missed the show because I was having a new baby, but still!

Normally, I'd say something like 'well, at least this video of Grizzly Bear performing on David Letterman to hold me over,' but f-that. I want a time machine so I can go back and go that show in Tucson. That probably wouldn't be the smartest use of a time machine, I know, but I'm a simple man with simple needs.

Grizzly Bear just announced a brand new tour and we've still got no Phoenix dates scheduled. I have tweeted Ed Droste to see if he can squeeze in a Phoenix date but as of yet I haven't got back. I'm sure he's working on it though.

Some 19 year old "Two Weeks"

So I was scouring the nets for something to post about and happened upon this video from a 19 year old lad from Southern California (SoCal) named Will Sturgeon that is in like 9 bands, goes to Sailing Qualage and still finds time to cover Grizzly Bear's "Two Weeks" all by himself playing all the instruments and singing all the parts...by himself. I am not going to say it's better or even as good as the original but Grizzly Bear has four times the people working on it and they don't have to worry about studying for their next knot exam.

We're pretty late to the party with this video from Grizzly Bear for their song "Two Weeks", but it's my first day back from a much needed vacation, so give me a break already. Not sure I can accurately describe the video, you're just going to have to watch it for yourself. The video was directed by Patrick Daughters, one of the last great music video directors out there.

In other Grizzly Bear news, today(5/26) is finally the day that their latest album Veckatimest is available. I've been waiting for this one for a while and am I happy to write that I'm currently listening to it now. You can listen to the album in full on the Grizzly Bear's Myspace page if you want to try it before you buy it. But, take my word for it, this is one of the best albums of the year and my favorite Grizzly Bear album yet.

I know that everybody in the Phoenix/Tuscon area are super jazzed about the upcoming Wilco/Grizzly Bear show in Tucson June 18th that is ONLY happening once on their respective tours, but that's like a whole month away so to tide you over the awesome folks over at the Black Cab Sessions just released their video of All We Ask. What I want to ask is, how bad does it stink in the back of that cab after 79 dirty indie bands have smashed themselves in there?

Grizzly Bear To Open For Wilco June 18th

TucsonScene.com just broke the news that Grizzly Bear will open for Wilco June 18th at Centennial Hall.  Both bands were slated to perform in Tucson on the 18th, Grizzly Bear at Rialto Theatre and Wilco at Centennial Hall.  Feeling that this would be problematic for fans the decision was made to have Grizzly Bear open up for Wilco.  

Wow, that isn't so much a solution to a problem as it was a stroke of genius.  This pretty much guarantees that I'll be making the two hour trip to Tucson for this incredible show.

These tickets are sure to sell out fast so get them while you can.  Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Arizona time and can be purchased here.   

Grizzly Bear Coming To Tucson!

Boy, do I have some good news for you Arizona. Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear just announced via Twitter that they'll be playing at The Rialto Theatre in Tucson on June 18th. Road trip! Tickets go on sale April 3rd. If you have any interest in seeing this show I would definitely act fast because I'm sure this one will sell out fast. You can find ticket info here.

Video: Grizzly Bear feat. Victoria of Beach House-"Two Weeks"

This video does two things for me, 1) makes me hate the fact that I missed SXSW again this year and 2) makes me really hate the fact that I missed SXSW again this year. But on the bright side I get to start off my day with another outstanding track from Grizzly Bear's forthcoming album Veckatimest. From what I've heard so far Grizzly Bear's latest is shaping up to more than likely be my choice for album of the year.

Stream Dark Was The Night - Full Album!

You can now stream the charity compilation album Dark Was The Night over at The Huffington Post. But you better hurry as the album will only be available for streaming this week. Starting next Tuesday, Feb. 17th., the album will available for purchase. You can bet that I'll be picking it up. It's not only for a good cause but features some really great original music from the likes of Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear, Feist, Sufjan Stevens and a whole lot of others.

New Music From Sufjan Stevens, Grizzly Bear, Fiest and Iron and Wine

Despite all the great artists releasing new music this year the charity compilation Dark Was The Night is easily my most anticipated new release of 2009. We mentioned Grizzly Bear's contribution to the album a few weeks back and have been following along daily as a new tracks from the album are debuted. Here are a couple of new tracks from the album, including a new one from Sufjan Stevens that just came out today.

Dark Was The Night will be released on Feb 17th(in North America) and will benefit Red Hot Orginization - an international charity dedicated to raising money and awareness for HIV and AIDS through popular culture.
