Hot Chip "Night And Day"

Hot Chip have always had some pretty wonderful videos with a larger than not production value, but this new one looked like it cost a poop ton of cash, am I right? Reggie Watts DOES NOT come cheap... I bet.

Hot Chip "Night & Day"

If more songs were Hot Chip songs more songs would be good. I am talking percentages here people. It's science AND math so don't worry about it.

Hot Chip & Will Oldham "I Feel Better"

This video/song combo is pretty rad. Two of my favs gettin it on together... FINALLY! I have been saying forever that Will Oldham (much better than this "old ham") and Hot Chip should colab on stuff, The Secret DOES work!

Video: Hot Chip "I Feel Better"

For their latest video Hot Chip enlisted the services of British comedian Peter Serafinowicz to direct. American audiences probably aren't too familiar with Serafinowicz (he was the voice of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace and he was the asshole roommate in Shaun of the Dead) but I'm telling you that this guy is one of the funniest men on the planet! Seriously, if you want a good laugh you should check out the guys Twitter. Not to mention that this video is fucking hilarious.

I'm going on record right now as saying that all music videos should be directed by either Eric Warheim or Peter Serafinowicz.

Oh, yeah, the song "I Feel Better" is from Hot Chip's latest album One Life Stand which is available now on Astralwerks.

New Music Tuesday: Joanna Newsom, Xiu Xiu, Shearwater, Phantogram & Past Lives

Damn fine day to be a person that enjoys new music. Corncopia of albums I doubt you even have enough money to buy they all. I am not saying you are poor, just frugal. If you were only able to buy like 3 or 4 (because of alleged money problems) I would recommend Joanna Newsom's TRIPLE album Have One On Me, Xiu Xiu's Dear God, I Hate Myself, Shearwater's The Golden Archipelago, and Phantogram's Eyelid Movies. Now you are obviously an adult or at least a savvy enough child to be reading such a high class music blog so by all means click on some of the other albums below (after break) and check their sounds out on Amazons thoughtfully provided 30 second clips, and make some decisions for yourself for once in your life. New Music Tuesday: Yeasayer, Hot Chip, The Watson Twins, Phantograms

I am happy to report to you that today is "NEW MUSIC TUESDAY" and that means you can legally purchase and download the albums that you have already illegally downloaded weeks ago. My Picks this week are Yeasayer's Odd Blood (Amazons Deal of the Day only $4), Hot Chip's One Life Stand, Phantograms Eyelid Movies and The Watson Twins' Talking to You, Talking to Me. There is obviously way more good stuff out this week but these are the ones I have listened to so far and can confidentially recommend. Take a listen for yourselves and let us know if what else is worthy of our ears... happy hunting. (Full list after the break)

Stream Hot Chip's "One Life Stand" At Thier MySpace

Hot Chip will be releasing their latest album on February 9th on Astralwerks but you can listen to the album - legally - right now by streaming the new album One Life Stand in full over at the bands MySpace page.  I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of the album last week and I have to admit I was a little underwhelmed at first.  But after a few listens I'm happy to report that I'm really digging this latest effort from Hot Chip.  If you like what you hear you can pre-order the album here.

mp3: Grizzly Bear - "Boy From School" (Hot Chip Cover)

I think I've seen this posted on just about every music blog I visit regularly and I hate to be left out of the crowd.  Grizzly Bear recently made a visit to the Triple J Radio show in Australia where they played a few tunes including this cover of Hot Chip's "Boy From School."  You can take a listen to the track down below.

Hot Chip - One Life Stand (MySpace Exclusive)

Fisheye lenses, mirror balls and keytars make excellent video fare in my opinion. Have I mentioned that I am REALLY REALLY excited about the new Hot Chip album?

mp3: Stream Hot Chip's "One Life Stand"

I am super super excited for the new Hot Chip album coming out next year. If the rest of the album sounds as good as One Life Stand then it's going to be like another christmas, a month after christmas... word.

It's Friday and on Friday's I like to post videos of Hot Chip covers. I KNOW that I have never posted any videos of Hot Chip covers before and it's probably going to be a long time before I post another one but that doesn't change what I like!!! OK? Check out Lissy's myspace page for some more tracks that are not Hot Chip covers HERE

Proof that American Eagle employs only douche bags

So my wife and I went to dinner on Friday night at Desert Ridge, and after eating, decided to take a leisurely stroll through the myriad of shops and boutiques that make up the outdoor mall. At one point, we cross AE and my wife spots a pair of shorts from the window, so we go in to check them out. As I cross the threshold, I'm immediately taken aback and have to pause for a moment. AE is piping through it's sound tubes, Hot Chip's "Wrestlers".
>Internally, I surmised that the music must be controlled by the minimum wage employees and that some svelte 17-year old is hip to the latest indie trends. Myself, edging on 30, decide to underline the bold move, a "pat on the back" as it were, hoping to score some points with the nations youth.

"Great song", I say to the bleach-blonde male employee as he greets us.

"You like this?", he says with a smirk, "every time I hear it, I can't help but think I can make a better song in Garage Band in 30 minutes"

What, a DOUCHE - amiright?

So not only does the guy NOT like the song, it dawns on me, it wasn't from an employee's iPod, someone who poured tirelessly over thousands of songs, cherry-picking the best to showcase at his place of employ, but from the corporate-endorsed videos playing throughout the stores.

American Eagle was playing Hot Chip to the Mall-masses.

I now realize why I steer clear from American Eagle; (well, the horrible employees and the fact that I can't fit into their jeans). But I don't know what's worse? The fact that the kid didn't like Hot Chip, and thought he could do better on his (parents provided) Mac, or the fact that the corporate shills at American Eagle picked that song and it's video to lure customers into buying over-priced crap clothes? I'm still worried it may have tainted my Hot Chip love...steer me straight guys!
