The Morning Benders "Oh Annie"

The Morning Benders-16

I am sure there is some super interesting back story to this song. Like probably something about who Annie is, that it's probably a b-side to their last album, that several people lost their lives in the fire that was caused when the DAT they used to record the song blew the eff up two weeks later etc... so on and so forth ad nauseam. If you want to read about that kind of crap check out P4K or Stereogum. If you want nonsensical made up crap, but also good music, videos and pictures... stick with The 'Stache.

Morning Benders, Twin Sister, Cults @ Clubhouse | Land of Talk & Suuns @ Rhythm Room

Tonight at Clubhouse is one of the best shows of the fall season. It is going to be marvelous and you just have to be there. The Morning Benders, Twin Sister and Cults! All together for one show! How often does something like that happen? Not very often. It's just a shame it's at the goddamn Clubhouse though... am I right? But where else can we have it? Not your moms house, she keeps calling the cops on us. Tix $15 HERE

But... if three awesome bands on the same bill isn't enough to overcome your fear of Clubhouse then might I suggest The Rhythm Room? Land of Talk and SUUNS are going to be performing their live music there, very good alternative to Clubhouse. Tix $12 HERE

Videos: The Morning Benders Do Some Rolling Stone Session Or Something

This is a pretty bad ass set of videos from The Morning Benders, contained in a stupid ass video player, with a really boring ass commerical before it, just kidding the commerical is great! But it's totally all worth it in the end. Just like that time you hiked to the top of that mountain and saw that full double rainbow all the way!

Videos: Dawes & The Morning Benders On Yourstru.ly

If someone said to me "Hey Shawn, are Dawes and The Morning Benders two really great bands you saw live in the last 6 months?" I would say "Yea sure, why?" they would then say "Oh, glad you asked, they did a couple of videos together for those awesome dudes over at yourstru.ly!" then I would reply "Oh nice bro! Thanks for the heads up, I am totally going to post them, I bet they are totally rad!"

Best of 2010...So Far (Part 3) Psyko Steve Edition

Seeing our "best of the year... so far" lists gave our good friend Steve Chilton (AKA Psyko Steve) such strong urning for list creation, it could only be quenched by making his own list. So without further ado, Steve's list...

I change what records I am into almost daily. The top half of the list has lived in the CD player in my car since they came out. These are all at the top for sure but putting a number on it is a bit arbitrary and I am sure I will dislike this order tomorrow. I also want to make a honorable mention of Miniature Tigers new album Fortress but since it is not officially out yet and I have only heard a promo I thought it should not make the cut, but it would be near the top if it could.

So far The Morning Benders Big Echo is the one album that is making it's way onto all of our lists, that must mean it's REALLY good, and it is. Check out Steve's entire list along with mostly hand picked videos after the break...

Best of 2010...So Far (Part 2)

If there is two things that I love in this world it is rock music and lists. So when Shawn suggested we put together a list of our favorite albums of the year so far, I said what the heck. This year has seen some really great releases, some of which did not make it on the list and to be honest figuring out which ones to be on the list was a little tricky. Except for the top 3, which are hands down my favorite releases of the year so far. Unless something comes along and really blows me away in the second half of this year I don't really see that changing but we'll see.
You can see the full list after the break. Enjoy!

Best of 2010... So Far

Not that lists are anything new, and mid year reviews are no exception. But once again we have been meaning to put together a list for few weeks now but we were beaten to it thus forcing our hand to actually make one. So here is MY list of MY favorite albums of the year so far. Check back tomorrow for Mike's. It will have a couple cross overs but maybe not. Especially not Sleigh Bells I can assure you of that.

Top 10 of 2010... So Far... after the break...

Video: The Morning Benders "Promises"

I am sorry all of you iPad users out there, I try to only embed youtube videos as a courtesy since I don't have the slightest idea how to make this site in HTML5 for only people with iPads but alas The Morning Benders don't have that kind of respect for you. So you will have to watch Promises on this janky ass myspace player from your laptop or desktop when you get home. It's totally worth it though and as soon as a youtube video gets posted I promise to consider going back and swapping it for this one.

Tonight In Phoenix: The Morning Benders, Mini T's & The Delta Mirror OR Ten High Tuesday At Yucca

Oh shit this show is going to be huge! I can't even believe there are still tickets available. I would buy them online or get there super early, I doubt this won't sell out. I love hyperbole! But really it IS going to be pretty huge and probably will sell out. I don't think I have been to a Mini T's show that wasn't, add The Morning Benders and The Delta Mirror two of the blogbuzziest bands around and it's a recipe for a good time.

But if this just isn't your bag there IS an alternative... Yucca Tap Room has a pretty great lineup tonight that might float your boat. Mini Mansions, Matthew Reveles, DJ Babynose and Sister Cities, and it's free so that's good, and also Mini Mansions is the band of Queens of the Stoneage bass player Michael "Mikey Shoes" Shuman. If the other thing wasn't going on I would be here for sure.

The Morning Benders and Miniature Tigers To Play Rhythm Room March 23rd

San Francisco band The Morning Benders have been getting a ton of buzz lately thanks in large part due to their song "Excuses."  A video for the song shot by the website Yours Truly and was posted on just about every music blog you could think of (including this one).  The song "Excuses" will be released shortly on the bands forthcoming album Big Echo.

In addition to the new album, due out March 9th on Rough Trade, the band will head out on tour starting March 23rd in support of the new LP.  That tour will bring the band to Phoenix on March 23rd for a stop at the Rhythm Room.  In addition to the The Morning Benders former Phoenix now Brooklyn favorites The Miniature Tigers will be opening the show.

Tickets for the show are only $10 and can be purchased here.  I'd get 'em quick because this one is sure to sell out fast.

mp3: The Morning Benders - "Excuses"

Just the other day we posted an awesome video from San Francisco band The Morning Benders.  The video shot for the website Yours Truly featured The Morning Benders and a small army of the bands friends and fellow San Francisco musicians performing the song "Excuses."  The band was attempting to recreate a Phil Spector-ish wall of sound type experience with the performance.  Mission accomplished, sirs.

The song "Excuses" comes of The Morning Benders forthcoming album Big Echo which is out March 9th on Rough Trade Records.  The band is giving away a free mp3 of the song "Excuses" on their website.  Surprisingly, given how big the sound comes across in the video we posted I think I actually like the album version slightly better.

Personally, I love this song and I'm hoping that the rest of the album is just as good.  Take a listen to the song down below and leave us a comment with what you think.

Video: The Morning Benders - "Excuses"

Here is a pretty awesome new video from San Francisco outfit The Morning Benders. The group recently got together with their friends and fellow musicians (including John Vanderslice and Chris Owens of Girls) in San Francisco to film a video for their song "Excuses." The video was shot by the website Yours Truly. This is really the first time I'm hearing of The Morning Benders but given how good this song I'm really looking forward to the bands new album Big Echo which is out on March 9th from Rough Trade.
