New Music Tuesday

If your new music womb has been feeling a little barren as of late, prepare to be impregnated with sound babies. But keep in mind that if someone forces you to listen to something and you end up liking it, that means you really DID want to like it all along. If they were legitimately forcing you to listen, your ears would have automatically shut off. It's the bodies natural defense against Owl City.

Yeasayer "Longevity"

The songs are great but at this point do these really count as videos? They just recorded their screen with an iPhone as they were playing their CD on a Panasonic 3DO, not that hard. Aside from finding a Panasonic 3DO that is.

Yeasayer "Madder Red" With Kristen Bell

Have you ever had a pet die? It's pretty sad. Not as sad as Old Yeller or Marley & Me. But pretty sad non the less, Kristen Bell really sells it I think.

Yeasayer Entire Music Hall of Williamsburg Show

Here is another full on concert all the way! This time we get Yeasayer from the Music Hall of Williamsburg. It's kind of weird to see the stage set up exactly like it was at The Rhythm Room in April, but not really because that is how science works and I believe in science.

Best of 2010... So Far

Not that lists are anything new, and mid year reviews are no exception. But once again we have been meaning to put together a list for few weeks now but we were beaten to it thus forcing our hand to actually make one. So here is MY list of MY favorite albums of the year so far. Check back tomorrow for Mike's. It will have a couple cross overs but maybe not. Especially not Sleigh Bells I can assure you of that.

Photos: Yeasayer & Warpaint @ The Rhythm Room

Yeasayer @ The Rhythm Room 4-15-2010

What a ridiculously good show the other night at The Rhythm Room... Even though Yeasayer had the "Let's get this over with and leave for Cochella" vibe it didn't stop them from putting on a spectacular performance when they weren't exchanging "OMG glances".

Warpaint was a huge huge surprise to me. I was definetly not expecting anything nearly as good as that. Next time you get a chance to see them definetly do it, maybe they will even change out of their jammies and put on some big girl clothes.

It was a busy weekend so I didn't get a chance to finish editing these pictures till right now so a 1,000 apologizes for the lateness. Check out many pictures after the break and many more on our Flickr Page HERE.

mp3: Deer Tick "20 Miles"

I love festival season.

It seems like no other time during the year do we get as many quality shows here in The Valley then we do just before SXSW starts and shortly after Coachella ends.  While it felt like there was nothing going on this week, next week is packed with huge shows from bands making their way to Indio, CA.  Vampire Weekend, The Big Pink, A Place To Bury Strangers, Arctic Monkeys, Yeasayer, The Temper Trap, are just some of the bands you can look forward to next week.  Honestly, it feels like there are too many shows to choose from.

One show that I'm particularly excited for (but won't be able to attend, unfortunately) is the Deer Tick show at Trunk Space on the 14th.  I'm always partial to see Deer Tick but the addition of locals Jacob Smigel, Andrew Jackson Jihad and Matthew Reveles to the bill make this show look pretty damn good on paper.

Fans of Deer Tick will be happy to know that the band has a new album on the way entitled The Black Dirt Sessions which will be out June 8th on Partisan.  You can download the first single from the new album, "20 Miles," down below.

Video: Yeasayer - "O.N.E."

Apparently Yeasayer's vision of the future is a neon colored nightmare where all the cool kids go to raves again and play weird board games. Personally, I'd rather have some type of apocalyptic future a la Mad Max or Cyborg then see that happen. The video for "O.N.E." is directed by Radical Friend, who also directed the video for "Ambling Alp," both of which come from Yeasayer's latest Odd Blood out now Secretly Canadian.

You can catch Yeasayer when they play the Rhythm Room along with Warpaint on April 15th. For more info on that show click here.

February's 5 Best Albums

In all honesty this list could have been way longer but we narrowed it down to 5 this month. I have listened to Odd Blood and Have One On Me about a millions times. Well I have listened to Have One On Me like 3 times but that about equates to a million times of any other album. Any other choices you think we left off? Leave some freaking comments!!! Argghh See the list after the break...

The Whigs & Band Of Skulls Coming To Town 4/15

Band of Skulls at Modified Arts 8/1/2009

The Whigs along with The Band of Skulls are coming to The Martini Ranch in Scottsdale on April 15th. I would go to this show if not for two factors that can not be ignored. 1)It's at The Martini Ranch and I am not so fond of that place after being in a cover band there for a year 2) It's the same night as Yeasayer at The Rhythm Room. I know that Yeasayer's new album Odd Blood isn't getting a lot of love out there but I really like it so you can kiss my grits Alice. But anyway tickets to either shows can be had via Stateside Presents

New Music Tuesday: Yeasayer, Hot Chip, The Watson Twins, Phantograms

I am happy to report to you that today is "NEW MUSIC TUESDAY" and that means you can legally purchase and download the albums that you have already illegally downloaded weeks ago. My Picks this week are Yeasayer's Odd Blood (Amazons Deal of the Day only $4), Hot Chip's One Life Stand, Phantograms Eyelid Movies and The Watson Twins' Talking to You, Talking to Me. There is obviously way more good stuff out this week but these are the ones I have listened to so far and can confidentially recommend. Take a listen for yourselves and let us know if what else is worthy of our ears... happy hunting. (Full list after the break)

Get Yeasayers Odd Blood a Day Early... Only $3.99

I was lucky enough to get a copy of Yeasayer's Odd Blood a few weeks ago and have been lovin' it like a dog loves it's balls, OR a nice dog bone actually because the other thing is gross. But I digress, over at the Amazon music store you can get Odd Blood a day early and for $3.99. Your Welcome! Check out this pretty NSFW video for "Ambling Alp", if you dare.

The Temper Trap Coming to The Clubhouse 4/15 Same Night as Yeasayer, EEK!

The Aussie band The Temper Trap are coming to Tempe's Clubhouse on April 15th. If you were a fan of the soundtrack for 500 Days of Summer you may remember the song "Sweet Disposition"? If not I have placed the video below for you. Unfortunately this whole shindig is the same night as Yeasayer at The Rhythm Room, couple that with the fact that I HATE The Clubhouse (for their Nazi parking racket, the place is OK) and Yeasayer is the clear winner for me, but I bet way more people go see Temper Trap, because they were on a soundtrack to a shitty movie and tweens love bands that are on soundtracks to shitty movies.

Yeasayer | "Tight Rope" (Video)

Here is another video from the charity compilation album Dark Was The Night. Yesterday we brought you a performance from The National, who not only contributed their song, "So Far Around The Bend" but also helped co-produce the album. Today, we have Yeasayer who perform their song "Tight Rope." It's another one of my favorite songs from the album and the band performs an interesting acoustic version with a little help from a chicken.
