Local Natives "You & I"

The Local Natives are still in the much coveted top spot of the hugely popular list of my favorite albums of the year. This is a video representation of a song from the album, an album that is for the most part, heard with your ears. You should use your ears AND your eyes to get full enjoyment from it.

Best of 2010...So Far (Part 3) Psyko Steve Edition

Seeing our "best of the year... so far" lists gave our good friend Steve Chilton (AKA Psyko Steve) such strong urning for list creation, it could only be quenched by making his own list. So without further ado, Steve's list...

I change what records I am into almost daily. The top half of the list has lived in the CD player in my car since they came out. These are all at the top for sure but putting a number on it is a bit arbitrary and I am sure I will dislike this order tomorrow. I also want to make a honorable mention of Miniature Tigers new album Fortress but since it is not officially out yet and I have only heard a promo I thought it should not make the cut, but it would be near the top if it could.

So far The Morning Benders Big Echo is the one album that is making it's way onto all of our lists, that must mean it's REALLY good, and it is. Check out Steve's entire list along with mostly hand picked videos after the break...

Best of 2010...So Far (Part 2)

If there is two things that I love in this world it is rock music and lists. So when Shawn suggested we put together a list of our favorite albums of the year so far, I said what the heck. This year has seen some really great releases, some of which did not make it on the list and to be honest figuring out which ones to be on the list was a little tricky. Except for the top 3, which are hands down my favorite releases of the year so far. Unless something comes along and really blows me away in the second half of this year I don't really see that changing but we'll see.
You can see the full list after the break. Enjoy!

Video: Local Natives "Airplanes"

It always still amazes me when I discover a video on MTV. Technically, it was MTV 2 and it was during their show Subterranean, which seems to be the only show on that network that a) plays videos and b) doesn't feature one of the guys from Jackass on it.

It's also a little bit strange that as much as I've enjoyed Local Native's album Gorilla Manor this year I hadn't seen this video until just yesterday. According to YouTube the Mark Waring directed clip was posted back in February of this year. So maybe you guys have already seen this one, but it's an excuse to listen to the song "Airplanes," my favorite on the album, again.

If you haven't already picked up Gorilla Manor yet we strongly suggest you do so. Post haste.

Video: Local Natives "Warning Signs" "Wide Eyes" & "Sticky Thread"

Fun fact that you may or may not know about but we really like Local Natives here at this web site. We also like that P4K has the time and resources to make videos of bands we like when they go to SXSW. I went ahead and posted all 3 of the ones they did for P4K's "Yours Truly/Tunnelvision/Pitchfork.tv" sessions they recorded next to a bunch of old shitty stuff in Austin. So there is no need for you to go to P4K because they get enough traffic as it is... just check the other 2 clips after the break.

February's 5 Best Albums

In all honesty this list could have been way longer but we narrowed it down to 5 this month. I have listened to Odd Blood and Have One On Me about a millions times. Well I have listened to Have One On Me like 3 times but that about equates to a million times of any other album. Any other choices you think we left off? Leave some freaking comments!!! Argghh See the list after the break...

New Music Tuesday: Local Natives, Soft Pack

This weeks "big deal" is probably The Soft Pack's self titled release, but I am  more about Local Natives Gorilla Manor I think. As you can see by the list that I have painstakingly created below there are a shit ton of things coming out today, things like Joe Pug's Messenger and retardedly named band Everybody Was in the French Resistance...Now!'s Fixin' the Charts, Volume 1 . Like always check out the whole big ass list after the break...
