Arcade Fire "Reflektor"

I like this video better than the weird "interactive" video that I couldn't get to work earlier today, but then again I have always been a sucker for army trucks and giants heads. Incidentally I am not "in love" with this song yet. I am sure it will grow on me though. If not it, it will either be because of my cold dead heart OR that the song isn't very good. Only time (and Pitchfork reviews) will tell.

You have to admit it's a pretty good video. It should be, they have enough practice making good video. Such fabulous dancing must never be overlooked when judging how good a video is or is not.

Well, last nights Arcade Fire show was pretty amazing. I really can't think if anything that compares to the overall spectacularity of the whole thing. I have been to a couple of concerts in my lifetime and have seen some stuff. And last nights stuff was in my top 5 of all time as far as being great goes.

I took a series of photographs with my camera from very very close. So close in fact that Win Butler's mic stand fell on my head at one point, and then to show his true dominance he straddled my head as I sat between the stage and crowd barrier.

Arcade Fire Coming To Phoenix 4/13!!!!

Fresh of their Awesome Grammy win. Arcade Fire are coming to Phoenix!!! I am posting this from my phone so I will update later with more details... but HUZZAH! Oh and Local Natives are opening... Double Huzzah!

UPDATE... So it looks like tix go on sale Feb 25th at 10 am. I bet this sells out in like 10 seconds. Going to be crazy. Totes excited. And the NEXT day is The Black Keys... busy week.

Oh Coachella 2011! Kings Of Leon? What Up Wit Dat?

Will this finally be the year that I go to Coachella? I really should go. Who knows when I will get the chance to see Kings Of Leon, Big Audio Dynamite, Cage the Elephant or Brandon Flowers? This is really a once in a lifetime opportunity to see these amazing bands in the most comfortable and accommodating way possible. How much?

Just kidding, even thought there are a few questionable acts scheduled there are so many more good ones that it doesn't even matter. People should just take several chill pills. I actually really DO want to go to Coachella this year. I went to Mayhem Fest AND the Warped Tour last year, so I can't imagine Coachella being any hotter or any more miserable than those painful feats of endurance were. I am a trooper dammit! I can handle it.

1500th Post Mixtapes!!! We Did It!!!

Oh guess what? This is Electric Mustache's 1500th Post! Who would have thought we would or could have made it that far? Not me, especially "cuz they're rapin errbody out here" and everything. But against all odds we have made it to 1500 posts (and counting).

As a gesture intended to say thank's, Mike and I made a couple "mix tapes" with some of our favorite songs going back to the start of the blog. Mike and I put together two pretty solid mixes if you ask me. And you should, because I need validation in my life.

Arcade Fire Announce New Album "The Suburbs"

BREAKING NEWS! You heard it here first folks, Arcade Fire will be releasing their new album The Suburbs on August 3rd via Merge Records. Okay, yeah, I know...you've probably only seen this on all of your friends tweets, blogs, and many, many other blogs besides ours already. Maybe somebody out there just woke up from a coma and is reading it first on our blog. Probably not though. Anyways, you can pre-order the mp3, CD, and vinyl versions of the album over at the band's website here. If you pre-order now you get an instant download of the songs "Month of May" and "The Suburbs." You can stream the song "The Suburbs" at the band's website as well.

New Arcade Fire: “The Suburbs” and “Month of May”

We don't have too many details about Arcade Fire's new album but it looks like we may have gotten our first preview of it. Today on Arcade Fire's website they debuted this nifty little widget where you're able to stream 30 seconds worth of two new songs. The songs "The Suburbs" and "Month of May" are presumably new tracks off of the bands latest record. But your guess is as good as ours.

Everybody Is Covering Everybody

It seems as if the hip trend at the moment is cover songs. In fact, the other day Shawn and I were joking around that our favorite songs of the year so far were all Animal Collective covers. In truth, we were only half joking. One really good cover of a Animal Collective song comes from Norwegian artist Sondre Lerche who covered "Bluish" which you can check out here.

Cover songs are so popular that even Peter Gabriel is getting in on the act. Not that this is exactly new territory for Peter Gabriel. He did a fairly memorable cover of Vampire Weekend's "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" a few years back. Which was pretty fitting actually considering Vampire Weekend drops his name a couple of times in the song. Gabriel must have had such a good time covering Vampire Weekend that we can expect to see a whole album of covers to be released on February 15th. Other indie artists that Peter Gabriel will be covering include Arcade Fire, The Magnetic Fields, and Bon Iver.

You can listen to Peter Gabriel cover Bon Iver's "Flume" over at Stereogum here. Personally, I'm not a big fan of his take on the song. Part of what makes Justin Vernon's songs so great is his heart-breaking falsetto. Fortunately, Gabriel's cover of "My Body Is A Cage" by Arcade Fire isn't bad.

Speaking of Justin Vernon, he teamed up with Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent, at a concert recently where they performed some covers of Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" and Dolly Parton's "Jolene." You can take a listen to both over at Pitchfork.

Another cover that St. Vincent recently did that managed to make its way on the internet is her version of The National's "Mistaken For Strangers." I absolutely love her take on this song. I'm really hoping she'll be performing this one when she plays the Rhythm Room on February 11th. Take a listen up above and drop a comment with what you think.

Where The Wild Things Are Movie Trailer

Okay, I know this isn't the movie blog, but I had to post this trailer for the simple fact that Arcade Fire's song "Wake Up" is featured in the trailer and I think the song and the footage go together like peanut butter and women. Spike Jonze is no slouch when it comes to directing movies so this should be a good one.
