Ariel Pink Coming To Tucson... Twice! No Phx WTF?

Apparently the boycott of Arizona doesn't include Tucson, or Flagstaff for that matter.

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti are going on a pretty huge tour that takes them all over the U.S. from July up through Oct. They are even going to come to our dirty racist state... twice! Just both times will be in Tucson, Aug 5th at Plush and again on Sept 12 at Club Congress. WTF Ariel Pink?

Dr. Dog also just announced another tour, and the closest they are coming to Phoenix is Flagstaff. In November no less! Who the hell want's to go to Flagstaff in November over Phoenix?

So either Phoenix has become the sole embodiment of SB1070 and our smaller cities get a pass for being "progressive college towns" or something else more (or even less) sinister is going on.

If only someone that had any idea of what is going on would leave a comment letting us know.

While some people might tend to be be more optimistic and say "Sure THOSE bands aren't coming but there are a whole bunch of other ones that ARE!", to those people I say "We are the 4th or 5th biggest city in the country, if a band can play in Flagstaff or Tucson they can make there way here too. Nobody would play Bakersfield and not play L.A. right?"

I also understand that there are sometimes venue scheduling conflicts and it might not have anything to do with the bands not wanting to play here. But that doesn't piss me off any less :-(

Best of 2010...So Far (Part 2)

If there is two things that I love in this world it is rock music and lists. So when Shawn suggested we put together a list of our favorite albums of the year so far, I said what the heck. This year has seen some really great releases, some of which did not make it on the list and to be honest figuring out which ones to be on the list was a little tricky. Except for the top 3, which are hands down my favorite releases of the year so far. Unless something comes along and really blows me away in the second half of this year I don't really see that changing but we'll see.

Dr. Dog Announce New Album and Tour... Drive Right On By Phoenix

So guess what? As you may have already surmised by reading the title of this post, Dr. Dog have a new album coming out on April 6th called Shame, Shame that will probably be great. They are also going to go on a world wide 10 week tour to exciting metropolises like Bloomington, IN and Boise, ID but are driving right on by good old Phoenix! Well to be fair according to Google Maps they are driving through Flagstaff on the way to Santa Fe after playing in L.A. but.....I am going to use my excellent detective skills for a moment. They play in LA on April 27th then Sante Fe on April 29th. So that leaves the 28th open for Phoenix. The Rhythm Room is booked that day but The Clubhouse is open. The email I got said "more dates to come" so I am going to predict Dr. Dog at The Clubhouse on April 28th. But don't hold your breath since I am mostly always wrong about this shit.
