Photos: AA Bondy and Turn Back, O Man at Modified Arts 6/29/2009

AA Bondy at Modified Arts 6/29/2009

Made a visit to the "sweat box" that Modified Arts turns into in the summer, saw Turn Back, O Man for the first time and you can color me "very impressed". They ripped through about eight bluesey/soul/country/good Chris Isaak (Forever Blue) feeling songs that I can't wait to get on some sort of "listen to it again in my car" format. Phoenix was AA Bondy's last stop on a 30 something show tour and even though it was a billion degrees and he looked hella tired he put on a freaking GREAT solo performance with all the feeling of someone that just drove around the country by himself playing in small clubs. My favorite was the foot stomping (literally) ode to all things drugs and liquor jam "Vice Rag". I took a bunch of pics you can check out after the break and check out even MORE on our flickr page by clicking HERE

New Music Tuesday: Wilco, Spoon, Moby

It's a bit of a slow week for new releases. But who are we kidding? There is only one album being released today that we are interested in. We've been posting about the latest Wilco album for the past several months now and today Wilco (The Album) finally gets released.

Wilco's latest is amazing. I've already listened to the album from start to finish twice this morning and have a feeling this one will be in pretty heavy rotation for a long time. Don't take my word for how amazing this album is, though. If you want to give it a test drive you can head on over to NPR and stream the album in full.

Here are some other new releases this week worth checking out.

Bjork: Voltaic

Levon Helm: Electric Dirt

Moby: Wait For Me

Spoon: Got Nuffin

Wilco: Wilco (The Album)

Wu Tang Clan: Chamber Music

Video: Dirty Projectors - "Stillness is the Move"

We've been really enjoying the latest album from the Dirty Projectors since we got our hands on it a few weeks ago. Here is the the official video for "Stillness is the Move", which is definitely my favorite song off of Bitte Orca.

mp3: Paul and the Patients "Blogspot" (Nick Seeley Remix)

Fellow Brooklynites (not with us but other people that live in Brooklyn) and chain smokers Paul and the Patients got a new remix for "Blogspot" from their album To The Lions available to download right here on this very website you are reading right now.

Paul and the Patients -
"Blogspot" (Nick Seeley Remix)

mp3: Courtney Marie Andrews - "The Buffalo and the Bird"

One of my favorite local musicians Courtney Marie Andrews has a new album coming out this July and is offering up a free and legal download from the new album. The song "The Buffalo and the Bird" comes off Andrews' new album Painters Hand and Seventh Son which is due July 31st from River Jones Music Label. If you can't wait that long, you can purchase the digital album online at ThinkIndie.

Courtney Marie Andrews is right in the middle of a west coast tour but will be playing July 31st at Modified Arts for the CD release party.

Download: Courtney Marie Andrews - "The Buffalo and the Bird"

mp3: The Coathangers "Stop Stomp Stompin"

Have you guys heard of The Coathangers yet? Well I have been hearing them on my secret audio preview sources and have grown quite fond of them over the last couple of weeks and have now just gotten around to posting this mp3. I am really sorry about that and I will do my best to be more proactive in posting these types of things in the future. Please don't leave me...I can change I SWEAR! Their album "Scramble" is out now on Suicide Squeeze Records!

The Coathangers -
"Stop Stomp Stompin"

Video: Lilly Allen "Fuck You "

Lily Allen is the best, she doesn't care about swearing, clothes, being a little overweight or getting caught doing drugs and all it does is make her more popular. I don't understand why when my fat ass walks around town with no pants on, high as shit on horse tranquilizers and calling everybody I see "cock bear" I don't get the same level of acceptance? It's gotta be the accent...right?

Ok, so I realized that the video is censored so I found a video with just the audio and its isn't censored so just hit play on BOTH of them at the same time and mute the top one...got it? It's really not that confusing.

What Laura Says Daytrotter Session

(photo: Jeff Ambrose)

Local favorites What Laura Says recently stopped by the Daytrotter studios to record a few tracks for the website. The Tempe band played a few tunes off of their album Thinks and Feels as well as a previously unreleased song, "I Suppose", which sounds fantastic. Take a listen below.

What Laura Says -
"I Suppose"

I might be a bit biased, being that the band is a local favorite of mine, but this is definetely one of my favorite Daytrotter sessions in a while. Be sure to head on over to Daytrotter to check out the rest of the songs from What Laura Says.

Tonight In Phoenix: AA Bondy @ Modified Arts

You can catch AA Bondy performing along with Turn Back O Man tonight(6/29) at Modified Arts. Should be a great show and you can catch our very own photographer and man about town Shawn there tonight as well. Be sure to stop by and say hello if you see him.

AA Bondy -
"When The Devil's Loose"

Video: Neil Young and Paul McCartney "A Day in the Life"

So you are there at the Neil Young concert having a great time and he starts playing "A Day in the Life" and you think 'Hey, that's pretty cool' THEN Paul Fucking McCartney comes out on stage and your man nipples start producing milk. They should have made everybody pay and extra $100 on the way out for the privilege.

mp3: Idle Hands "Loaded"

Idle Hands out of Minneapolis have graciously provided us with the first single off of their upcoming album The Hearts We Broke On The Way To The Show it's called "Loaded" and that is exactly what you should be at all times when you listen to music and/or drive. Just kidding don't drink or do drugs before you drive...do it WHILE you are driving so it doesn't hit you till you get where you are going.

Idle Hands - "Loaded"

Video: Jay-Z - "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)

Jay-Z continues his assault on auto-tune with this video for his song "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)" and even manages to get a cameo from LeBron James and Harvey Keitel.

Don't forget, you can catch Jay-Z with Fabolous this Thursday(July 2nd) at Dodge Theatre.

mp3: Octopus Project - "Wet Gold"

Oh, hi there. I know that I've been away for the blog for a while now, but it's with good reason. I had a baby and babies are a lot of work and don't leave a whole lot of time for blogging.

Anyways, here is a track that caught my attention while I was away. The song, "Wet Gold", comes from Austin band Octopus Project and comes from their upcoming EP Golden Beds.

"Wet Gold"

You can pick up Octopus Project's EP Golden Beds on 7/14 from Peek-A-Boo.

Last Nights Party's Video Tribute to MJ

Hey, did you hear that Michael Jackson died last week? One of our favorite sites LastNightsParty.com has put together a little tribute to the King of Pop and Molestation.

New Wavves Video for "No Hope Kids"

Nathan Williams has taken a break from his nervous breakdown...just kiddin, I am sure he didn't have anything to do with this video and is still having having a nervous breakdown. Apparently the footage for the video was shot on the very same European tour of the breakdown. I wish my life was so busy and overwhelming with awesome stuff that I could have a nervous breakdown, get in a fight with my drummer and insult a bunch of dirty Spaniards...but alas I can't even find an embeddable version of this video so you will just have to go to stupid Rolling Stones stupid website and watch it all tiny but clicking HERE. They are going to be playing a few dates this summer...

I Heart Karli Fairbanks...Join Me

Karli Fairbanks has been pretty active in the PNW for a few years now but I didn't hear about her till yesterday when her new album The Breaking of Our Days arrived on my digital doorstep. I am really digging it and have been listening to it on repeat for a couple hours now. why don't you have a listen via the mp3's below and after that you can buy the whole album HERE, come on she has to buy coats and firewood living up there in Washington, bear skin rugs are not free people.

Karli Fairbanks - "Some Other Plan"

Video: Wilco on Conan "You Never Know"

I went to the Wilco/Grizzly Bear show last week and I have not talked about it until now because I am a little pissed. I took my camera AND my little flip video camera with me in hopes of getting some bad ass clips n' pics. I had second row seats for the love of god so I was 10 feet from the stage. Now here comes the part I am pissed about, I noticed on the back of the ticket it said "No cameras or recording devices", we had to park like 2 miles away because of the odd location of Centennial Hall in relationship to available parking so I wasn't going to take my big ass camera or the flip since I didn't want to get turned away and have to go ALL the way back to my car and miss half the show so I left it all in the trunk. BUT when we get in there and sit down it's like the fucking presidential press conference in there! Every person in the first five rows was snapping away like digital film is free or something. So alas I COULD have taken my camera and been just fine. Oh and they ran out of water before the show even started. BUT the saving grace to all of this complaining is that it was the best effing concert I have even been to in my life. Grizzly Bear was awesome albeit short since they were "opening" but Wilco played for almost two hours of pure awesomeness. If you can get tickets to any of the remaining shows on their tour DO IT! If not then I guess you will have to live with them on Conan last night.

Volcano Choir To Release Debut LP

Up until recently I didn't really think anything interesting came from Wisconsin. That was until I heard Bon Iver's 2008 masterpiece For Emma, Forever Ago. Word is that Justin Vernon, aka Bon Iver, is currently working on a follow up to For Emma, Forever Ago in between summer gigs(sadly none of them happen to be in Phoenix), but in the meantime Vernon's side project, Volcano Choir, is set to release thier debut LP this September.

Volcano Choir is a collaboration of Wisconsin artists Justin Vernon and the band Collections of Colonies of Bees. I haven't heard any tracks from the forthcoming LP but from what I've read it sounds as if this will be something completely different from Vernon's previous work. Regardless, I can pretty much bet this will be something worth checking out when the album comes out on September 22nd via Jagjaguwar.

Tonight In Phoenix: Ida Maria, Dry River Yacht Club, Snow Songs

Ida Maria, is playing tonight at Martini Ranch in support of Fortress Round My Heart one of my favorite albums of the year. Tix were $10 but looks like they are $12 day of the show (that's today dum dum) Should still be able to pick them up at the Marquee box office or Bookmans.

If old town Scottsdale isn't your cup of tea then there are some other great options tonight. Dry River Yacht Club is playing a free show at the Yucca Tap Room OR you can head on over to the Lost Leaf Gallery and check out Snow Songs (also for free) OR you can check out Oakland's Cryptacize with local favs Andrew Jackson Jihad at Modified Arts ($8)

In conclusion there is tons of shit to do tonight so go out and see somebody, make a new friend, get in a fight with an old friend...SOMETHING! Check out silverplatter.info for even a few MORE shows, seriously.

Video: Deerhoof "My Purple Past"

Guess what guys? It's Deerhoof back with another video to trip your balls off and lull you into a false sense of awesomeness...They seriously and consistently have the most innovative videos out today. I also can NEVER get avocados to take my calls either, they are so fucking smug.

mp3: Sally Shapiro "Miracle" (Bogdan Irkük Remix)

Swedish music person Sally Shapiro (it's a pseudonym...don't tell Canada) done got her song "Miracle" remixed by Bulgarian music person Bogdan Irkük. It makes my balls sweat!

Basement Jaxx "Raindrops" Remix Widget

I like Basement Jaxx as much as the next guy. That was about the worst post intro ever I think, but I do like them and I like to put widgets on my blog so this is like a marriage of two things I love the likes I have not seen since "cops" and "rock" in Cop Rock! I know it's just a giant ad but it looks cool and plays music so why are you getting so bitchy?

Woods - "To Clean"

Video: Simian Mobile Disco "Audacity of Huge"

So I have been hearing this song on the Sirius for a couple weeks now and I can't decide if I want to blow my brains out every time or get out of the car and dance around a little. So I don't do either except ponder the meaning of braille on drive through ATM's

Tonight In Phoenix/Tucson: Wilco, Grizzly Bear, Courtney Marie Andrews, Tom Brosseau

There are a couple of good choices for shit to see/listen to tonight in Phoenix. In fact if you are one of the people that weren't Johny on the Spot with getting tickets to tonight's SOLD OUT Wilco/Grizzly Bear show down in Tucson then your best bet is to head on over to Modified Arts to check out my buddy River's Summer Folk Festival featuring Courtney Marie Andrews. It started at 2pm so if you can't get in there either...

Tom Brosseau at at Trunk Space sounds like a good time as well.

As always check out silverplatter.info for all the haps and deets on everything going on in Phoenix

Renminbi's New EP is Free and Great

So I got my greedy little ears wrapped around Renminbi's new EP Surface coming out July 7th and I have to say if I was water and Renminbi was a pot I would be boiling because it's so dang hot! The best part of this is that if you register your email you can get Surface gratas. That's right free, no charge. What a bargain for something so choice. All you have to do is click HERE you also get to instantly download the first track called "Portland" as soon as you register.

Check out this little video with some clips of the recording sessions...go ahead it's OK

Video: Dance Upon Nothing "The Tragedy"

This video is nearly electronic...I always thought that we be a good pick up line at a bar "He there ma'am, I nearly electronic" But I didn't think of it till after i was married so will someone please try that out for me? Oh and check out Dance Upon Nothing's website for more information about them HERE

Photos: Ear Pwr at Modified Arts 6/18/2009

Ear Pwr at Modified Arts 6/17/2009

I love Ear Pwr and apparently so do five other people in Phoenix. Sometimes I just underestimate the "pwr" of Electric Mustache and the reliance people have on our daily concert calendar. You see yesterday we didn't have one so I can only assume that is the reason nobody showed up at Modified last night...right? Well Ear Pwr put on the best show they could under the circumstances. The sound guy was not exactly cooperative and playing to six people barely paying attention is not the funnest thing to do. We ended up hanging out with Devin, Sarah and their friend/driver/tour manager (whose name I can't for the life of me remember right now) for a couple of hours out on the sidewalk just bullshitting and having a grand ole' time. I can say from the deep down cockles of my heart that they are by far the coolest band I have ever hung out with and next time they come through Phoenix they are welcome to crash out my place. Enjoy the pics after the break!

Video: Phoenix Accoustic at KEXP

In New York you get finer style of life. Things like subways and parks with grass. In Phoenix we have parks with dirt. You would think that IN PHOENIX we would have the type of radio station that would be able to get the BAND Phoenix to play some acoustic songs at least on the radio but NOOOOO! We get festivals with Panic! (fuck that exclamation point in the ass!) At the Disco. FML and enjoy the videos.

There is a lot of craziness going on here today, for ONE... Mike your usual concert calendar and New Music Tuesday man just ran out outa here because he got a call from his wife that she is having a baby! like right now as we speak and since this was the first he was hearing about it you can imagine his surprise ;-) So lets all send our "power dreams" their way. For TWO... this very post is our 499th post ever so I am trying to think of something good to do for the 500th, I don't know something like a free baby or something like that.

Without further ado...today's new releases (less thorough than normal...sorry)

Major Lazer: Guns Don't Kill People... Lazers Do

Ha Ha Tonka: Novel Sounds of the Nouveau South

Among Oak & Ash: Among Oak & Ash

The Builders and the Butchers: Salvation Is a Deep Dark Well

Rock Plaza Central: At the Moment of Our Most Needing

mp3: A.A. Bondy "When The Devil's Loose"

I am on a freaking hunt today! A hunt for you...dearest readers and occasional commentators of ElectricMustache and I have returned from the cold cruel wilderness that is the internet with a warm bowl of music that will fill your sound stomachs with happiness. What I give to you is the new title track to A.A. Bondy's forthcoming album When The Devil's Loose (out 9/1) you can listen to it, then download it, then put it into your ipod and listen to it again even. For fans of the real thing check out the tour dates below the mp3!

Video: Cursive - "I Couldn't Love You"

Sometimes I feel really bad for the actress Tania Raymonde. First, she has all kinds of bad things happen to her character, Alex, on Lost and now she's being chased through the woods in this video from Cursive. This is the second single off of Cursive's latest awesome album Mama, I'm Swollen which is available now on Saddle Creek.

Video: White Denim - "I Start To Run"

Here is the first single from White Denim's new album Fits. I'm really digging the song "I Start To Run" and the video is pretty entertaining as well. Its got a kind of Mad Max meets Deliverance feel to it set to some kick ass music. For those lucky of you to live in the UK you can pick up White Denim's new album on 6/22 from Fulltime Hobby. For everyone else you can shell out the price of an import or wait until White Denim finds a US record label. Which I still have no idea why this band remains unsigned in the US.

Some 19 year old "Two Weeks"

So I was scouring the nets for something to post about and happened upon this video from a 19 year old lad from Southern California (SoCal) named Will Sturgeon that is in like 9 bands, goes to Sailing Qualage and still finds time to cover Grizzly Bear's "Two Weeks" all by himself playing all the instruments and singing all the parts...by himself. I am not going to say it's better or even as good as the original but Grizzly Bear has four times the people working on it and they don't have to worry about studying for their next knot exam.

Souvenir les abeilles sont les genoux

That would never fly in the U.S. post Columbine ;-)

The thing about not living in Europe is you sometimes don't hear about a good European band till pretty late in the game. But sometimes they send you an email introducing themselves and IN the email they put a link to a video, and the video is really good so you go to their myspace page and listen to some more tracks and they are ALSO really good. That is the part when I write a post letting all my friends know how good Souvenir is and give you all the ways to check them out yourselves n' shit like that. There is a video below, and below that is some MP3 action...please enjoy responsibly.

Video: Camera Obscura - "Honey in the Sun"

This video reminds me a little bit of one of those videos from the '80's that would show the band on tour and would always be set to some power ballad. Those sucked, but this video is pretty cool. Check out this latest clip from Camera Obscura for their song "Honey in the Sun", which comes from their excellent album My Maudlin Career.

Video: John Vanderslice - "Too Much Time"

Very cool video of John Vanderslice performing his song "Too Much Time" with the Magik Magik Orchestra. The song is one of my favorites off Vanderslice's new album Romanian Names which is available now from Dead Oceans.

Tonight In Phoenix: Helio Sequence

Very excited to see Portland indie rockers Helio Sequence play tonight(6/10) at The Rhythm Room. If you've never listened to the bands 2008 album Keep Your Eyes Ahead then you are definitely missing out. The albums was a big favorite of mine last year. Tickets are still available for the show for $12 and you can purchase them either online or at Zia Records, Hoodlums, or Stinkweeds. Opening the show will be local favorites Reubens Accomplice.

Photos: Crystal Antlers at The Ryhthm Room 6/8/2009

If you were one of the smattering (then increasingly more, I guess) of people that were at The Rhythm Room last night you were treated to a show that either kicked you in the nuts or made you grow a pair...of nuts. What I am trying to say is the Crystal Antlers play music like they are trying to kick you in the balls, the balls in your ears. Some bands just try to massage your sound pussies but Crystal Antlers kick you in your ear balls. Ok enough of that shit...check out a shit ton of pics after the break and a giant shit ton of pics on our Flickr page, and when I say "giant shit ton" I am talking "manure on Biff" amounts.

Crazy Norwegians I was a King were also great but unfortunately I had to leave before the Constantines went on.

New Music Tuesday: Dirty Projectors, Sonic Youth, Regina Spektor

A couple of really interesting new releases this week. The album I'm most looking forward to this week is the fifth studio album from Dirty Projectors called Bite Orca. The new album was just given the "best new music" nod from Pitchfork and in my opinion it's pretty well deserved.

Also out this week is Sonic Youth's The Eternal. This marks the sixteenth studio album from the seminal rock group.

A couple of other albums to check out this week is Mos Def's latest The Ecstatic and Deerhunter's EP Rainwater Casette Exchange.

::Recommended New Releases For 6/9/2009::

British Sea Power: Man of Aran

Deerhunter: Rainwater Cassette Exchange

Dirty Projectors: Bitte Orca

Faith No More: Very Best Definitive Ultimate Greatest Hits Collec

Liechtenstein: Survival Strategies in a Modern World

Portland Cello Project: The Thao & Justin Power Sessions

Regina Spektor: Laughing With EP

mp3: Rock Plaza Central "(Dont You Believe the Words of) Handsome Men"

I just got this track from one of my clandestine sources and I had to post it immediately because I listened to a bunch of The Might Be Giants over the weekend and Rock Plaza Central (despite their silly name) have captured their essence without totally copying them. And they are Canadian (partly explains the name?)and listening to Canadian bands makes me think of people in the snow and snow makes me think of being cold and that helps me battle the "ass cock hotness" that is going on outside my office right now!!! Thus I say yea shall listen to this song now!

Rock Plaza Central - "(Dont You Believe the Words of) Handsome Men"

...At The Moment Of Our Most Needing is available now from Paperbag Records

mp3: Animal Collective remixed by Phaseone

Did you know that we here at "The 'Stache" (that's what people are calling us these days) really like Animal Collective? Well we do, so whenever we see on some other blog that there is a rip roaring AC remix available we snatch it up just like graavy and put it on OUR blog, for YOU!

Listen To Sunset Rubdown's 'Dragonslayer'

The new Sunset Rubdown album, Dragonslayer, isn't available for another few weeks but for those looking to get an early listen you can head on over to NPR to stream the album in full. I was a little disappointed with the last Sunset Rubdown album, Random Spirit Lover, but so far the latest album sounds pretty good.

Sunset Rubdown's Dragonslayer is available June 23rd from Jagjaguwar.

Jay-Z - "DOA (Death Of Autotune)"

This one has been on repeat all morning long. Reportedly to be straight from Jay-Z's upcoming The Blueprint 3 comes the track "DOA(Death Of Autotone)".

You can catch Jay-Z when he performs on Thursday, July 2nd at Dodge Theatre.

Tonight In Phoenix: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Crystal Antlers

New York rockers Yeah Yeah Yeahs are playing tonight(6/8) at Marquee Theatre. The show is sold out so if you were thinking about getting tickets today you are out of luck. Opening the show is All Leather and Grand Ole Party.

Also playing tonight are Toronto rockers Constantines along with Crystal Antlers at The Rhythm Room. Tickets are still available for this show.

Crystal Antlers - "Andrew"

mp3: J Tillman - "Earthly Bodies"

No better way to start off a new week than with some great new music. Before joining the Fleet Foxes as their drummer J Tillman had a successful solo career and will be releasing another solo album this September. The new album, called Year In The Kingdom, will be released on Western Vinyl. Take a listen to the awesome track from the new album "Earthly Bodies".

J Tillman - "Earthly Bodies"

Video: SEB "News For You"

SEB is from England and I like him. I think that if I ever go to England I will look him up and say something like this "Hey SEB!!! SEB! Why are you ignoring me? HEY MAN, its Shawn... you know, from ElectricMustache. Remember when you emailed me that video and I posted it? I came all the way over here to see you man? Hey come on no need to get...HEY my Mom is NOT a bitch!" I think he will eventually calm down and we will become the best of friends though, why are people in England always in such a bad mood?

Video: Little Boots "New In Town"

Here is the video for "New In Town" from recording artist Little Boots. If you like this video then I have a special surprise for you...you can stream the whole album on her myspace page HERE. If you like the whole album then I have an even bigger surprise for you. Its really a two part surprise, if you live in the UK you can get it next week, if you are lucky enough to live in the US of A then you get to wait all the way till next fall!!! HORRAY USA!!!

Sydney Sprague at Cadillac Ranch 6/4/2009

I took myself to the Cadillac Ranch last night and had some horrible mozzarella cheese sticks. Oh I also saw Sydney Sprague. I was expecting her to sit in a chair and play some acoustic songs on an acoustic guitar but what do you know?!?!? She was standing and had an electric guitar and sang electric songs...who knew? Not me that's for sure. The performance was as good if not better than what I heard/saw on the youtubes yesterday. The "more intimate" performance I was expecting would have sucked anyway since Cadillac Ranch is a breeding ground for douchbags that want to ride a mechanical bull and drink coors light, so the full band she had with her really helped drown out the sound of retards yelling at their whore girlfriends to ride said bull.

There are some more pics after the break and there is even a video at the end, good for you.

Video: Empire of the Sun - "Standing on the Shore"

I'm glad to see that for their latest video Empire of the Sun went with a lo-fi, toned down, simple video. Oh, how I wish there was a font for sarcasm. Anyhoo, here is yet another over the top video from the Australian duo from their album Walking on a Dream.

Miniature Tigers on the Interface

Local favorites Miniature Tigers recently sat down for an interview on AOL's Interface. The band talked about their love of animal bands and how instant messaging helped bring the band together. Thanks, technology. The boys also performed a couple of tunes including "Japanese Woman" and "Cannibal Queen" and a few others. Check out the full interview and performances click here or you can download the podcast via your iTunes.

"The Wolf"

"Hot Venom"

Video: Dinosaur Jr. - "Over It"

Who would've thought J Mascis was such an awesome skateboarder? In Dinosaur Jr's extreme new music video for the song "Over It" we learn that all of the members of the band are all really good at extreme sports. The song comes off the bands latest album Farm which will be available 6/23 via Jagjaguwar.

Sydney Sprague at Cadillac Ranch Tonight, and its free

I have never even heard of Sydney Sprague till this afternoon but I have been listening to all her songs via her myspace page and then I saw she was playing a free show TONIGHT at Cadillac Ranch, so I just might have to brave Tempe to check it out. If you can't make it to the show you should at least check out her myspace page...right?

Video: Richard Swift - "Atlantic Ocean"

Here is the second video from Richard Swift's latest album Atlantic Ocean. The video for the song "Atlantic Ocean" features robots fighting in a car lot and a crazy ass dance party that I wish I would've been at. I've been enjoying Swift's latest LP since it came out in April, definitely worth checking out if you haven't already done so.

The album Atlantic Ocean is currently available now on Secretly Canadian.

mp3: Throw Me The Statue - "Ancestors"

Seattle indie pop rockers Throw Me The Statue have a new album on the way this August. The new album, called Creaturesque, will be released on August 4th via Secretly Canadian. Take a listen to the song "Ancestors" from the new album.

Video: Kanye West - "Paranoid" (Starring Rihanna) [Final Version]

Turns out that video that we posted for "Paranoid" a while back was just a rough cut and this is the final version of the video. I have to say that 808s & Heartbreak is my least favorite Kanye West album but the song "Paranoid" is probably one of my favorite of his songs. Weird, I know. Also, Rihanna looks ridiculously hot in this video.

Video: The Beatles Rock Band Trailer

Holy Balls I am sooo very excited about this game! The Electric Mustache staff are huge and gigantic (literally and figuratively) fans of the Beatles, and I can say for myself that they are my all time favorite band of all time ever...of all time. So this video just gives me that antsy feeling you get on Christmas Eve. It will surely replace all other things in my life for the first couple of weeks after it comes out...Sorry Family.

Sonic Youth's latest album The Eternal is out a week from today(6/9) but you can listen to the album in full a week early on iLike.

Photos: St. Vincent at Modified Arts 5/31/2009

St. Vincent playing this Saturday(5/31) at Modified Arts was without a doubt the best musical performance I've seen so far this year. She played a great mixture of tunes from her latest album Actor, as well as some of my favorties from Marry Me. I was also equally impressed by the opening band Pattern is Movement, who performed one of the best covers of Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" I've ever heard. Check out the rest of the pics after the break

New Music Tuesday: Neil Young, Elvis Costello, EELS

For fans of Neil Young today must be just about as good as Christmas. Just released today is Neil Young's 8-CD box set Neil Young Archives, Vol. 1: 1963 - 1972. Save Me From What I Want

The Party: Part 1

The Party: Part 2

Your Lips Are Red

We will have a bunch of pic of the show up later on today! Oh and sorry about that dudes giant freaking head in the way all the time. It was super packed in there and I could have punched a bunch of people in the face to get a better shot but I don't think that would have been appropriate.

Video: Micachu & The Shapes - "Golden Phone"

When Micachu & The Shapes announced some US tour dates last week we were hugely disappointed that Phoenix was not among the list of cities they were planning on making a stop at. We'll just add that to the list of bands we'd really like to see who are passing us by. On the bright side Micachu & The Shapes have just put out a new video for their song "Golden Phone" off of their unbelievably great album Jewelry. I've been listening to Jewelry on repeat since its April release and if you haven't checked this group out yet then I highly recommend you do.
